This surgery also assures that the degeneration of other knee parts is prevented and they are saved from the after effects of your injury. In most cases of ACL tear surgery is not even required and rehabilitation helps in recovery but there is surgery must in some cases like:

  • When ACL is torn out completely or partially but knee is unstable.
  • Even after no surgery rehabilitation, you knee is unstable and you don’t feel recovered.
  • If you are into sports or physical activity and want full recovery of your knee.

  • When there is just a partial minor tear that can be recovered easily by rehabilitation and rest.
  • When you have a restricted life and you don’t do much physical activity or sports.
  • When you can readily go for rehabilitation and are ready to give all the time and patience to it.
  • When you have medical conditions that risk the surgery or you can’t take surgery.

How is ACL surgery done?

ACL surgery is done by making a slit in the knee near the affected area and then the instruments for surgery is inserted through it.  There are mainly two ways to proceed with ACL surgery, one method is arthroscopy and another one is open surgery. In open surgery, a larger part of the skin is slit and operation is done while in arthroscopy only a small slit is enough.

Arthroscopy being better and modern is mostly preferred as it is less costly, less painful and heals faster. So you can live a normal life again faster than open surgery that is riskier. This is available in almost all MCL surgery centres in Noida.

What happens during the surgery?

In arthroscopy, first two or maybe three small slits or incisions are made. Then sterile saline solution which is basically a salt solution is pumped in the indulged area so blood washes out and the doctor can clearly see the injured area and know the case well. Along with the arthroscope, a light source and a video camera is also present that gives a clearer view on a screen for doctors to operate better. Once this is done the drills and screws are fitted and the surgery is done after which the slit is stitched.
